About the Role

Patient Work-Up: chief complaint, visual acuities, patient history & medication, habitual prescription(s),
autorefraction, keratometry, Optomap retinal screenings, tests ordered & performed

All exam data is to be entered accurately and timely into the EMR

Auxiliary testing: OCT, Visual Fields, OPTOS, Neurolens eyebrain, AdaptDx, B-scan

Contact lens insertion & removal training

Maintain supply of over-the-counter eye drops, contact lens solutions, and trial contact lenses

Maintain patient flow through the office

Recognize efficiency opportunities

Recognize when the doctor is behind schedule and take steps to mitigate

Maintain knowledge of eye drops, solutions, and other products in LDEC inventory

Sanitize exam rooms and equipment between patients and at end of day

Answer phone calls, communicate with patients, price and dispense glasses/contact lenses as needed

Practice HIPAA compliance and adhere to Employee Handbook at all times

Cross-train with Office Coordinator and Optician

Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Required

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment

  • Friendliness when greeting patients over the phone, and in person

  • Strong computer, telephone, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Attention to fine detail

  • Availability to work one half-day Saturday per month

Preferred

  • Spanish-speaking ability

  • Clinical experience

  • Experience with EMR
